christmas is for kids

My little cousins: Jacob, Aubrey, and Brooke=crazy for Christmas. And they always feel the need to wind down from opening gifts by taking a nice, hot group bubble bath. It might get weird if they still follow tradition when they get to be in jr high....  haha

J and A's new puppy Archie....  so sweet. He's a poochie (that's poodle-chiwawa)

my typical december evening

December to me means a lot of 'C's.    Cold. Christmas Cards. Carbs. Cuddling.
I don't shoot for clients in the month of December, so my evenings after work are for hanging out with friends and my hubby over fettucine and wine--- watching a lot of Christmas movies, and hoping for snow for some good winter photography. I hope you all get what you wish for this Christmas. : )
this is one of the best gifts we've ever received.... the Houdini Corkscrew

winter

If last Saturday was all the snow we're gonna get before Christmas--- then so be it. At least I documented it. Don't you just love the dinosaur Max traced on our patio? Or maybe it's a turtle... or a horse?! Turtle horse. That's what it is.

save the WORLD

A very cool thing. Click HERE if you like to watch movies, enjoy history, or just feel Christmas-y and giving.

stacie [not me--- a different one!]

So I got a new lense! It rocks. Wide angle and super sharp. I've been using it all fall---but I had to try it out on a single subject. Enter stage left: Stacie.
Happy happy happy that Stacie let me photo her one last time before she left for warm Texas for student teaching. Our hands were frozen solid afterwards! But thank you pretty girl....  you will be very missed while you're away. : (

reflection

I was about to toss Sunshine Bear into his final resting place in the trash (the dogs have pretty much had their way with him) and I stopped and looked into his eyes (where his eyes used to be, anyway) and thought to myself "huh. I know how you feel little guy."  I feel like Sunshine Bear is a metaphor for my year. Scruffy, worn, exhausted, but smiling.

I feel like I managed my time pretty well----  life is always a balancing act, but being a wife, a good daughter and friend, a full time rad tech, a home owner with a house for sale, president of Jaycees, secretary of PEO, on various other committees throughout the year, and a passionate photographer... has really taken it out of me by this month. Maybe I'm just feeling sappy and sentimental because it's Christmastime....  but I feel so blessed to have returning clients, a thriving business starting and a very understanding and supportive husband. To YOU all I owe my thanks. Thank you very much for the kind words you send me, understanding for my hectic calendar, and for your referrals. It means the world to me : ) Thank you for letting me pursue my dreams----and I really felt terrible that I could not fit everyone in my busy schedule. I really really hope you keep watching the blog this Spring/Summer and I get a chance to photo you all one day. Blog posts slow down this time of year... but fear not. I have some ideas up my sleeve for some good things to share. Including a new look for my site!

Happy Holidays!

coulda used an assistant

There are a lot of reasons i could have used an assistant this day. 1. for Mabel the dog. Very cute and lovable, but severely ADHD. 2. For Thomas. Case in point--- the photo where he's holding the black cat wearing his white shirt. and 3. The more the merrier! We laughed a LOT! Always room for another Newton! This is my Uncle Mike and his fam. I stayed a lot longer as intended...planning on only a quick trip to Bradshaw and back... BUT Jenni gave me her puppy dog eyes and asked if I'd "help go through this one closet...." I am thinking to myself... "Sure.. that'd be quick. I can do that."

.......six hours later..... 4 closets later....  we had heaps and mounds of clothes in the donation pile and we actually found a diaper deep within. (Yeah... Thomas is 8 now and way past potty training). Glad I could help out : )  and it inspired me to go shopping! like I need a reason.)

my kearney parents

My Aunt Judy and Uncle Don live only a couple blocks away. We're over there ALL the time. It's very very nice to have them so close. Especially back in college when we need a place to clean our clothes : ) And p.s...... they've been married for 39 years!

the boys posed themselves for this pic....  nice.

nolan [at sixteen months]

2 things you must know about Nolan. He has the longest eyelashes I've ever seen and he loves to explore. At the end of our session he climbed all over their parked car like a little spider monkey while we chatted for a bit. Good thing his legs aren't any longer. He woulda started the car and drove off!
